ditto. liberty and freedom. no to laws that criminalized individual freedom like drugs, sex, marriage, animal use.

I think this chauvinism is a consequence of the willful ignorance this country has fallen into. (Or the deliberate misleading ideologies that keep others ignorant to promote the right's agenda.) And they keep choking down the koolaid. In the face of utter failure of their policies, they keep espousing them. The only solution to the current economic crisis: tax cuts! Apparently deficits mean nothing to these people. As I've written my blog, neo-cons an religious extremists make good bedfellows because of one common trait: they adhere to a belief system unsupported by evidence.

Frederick Ferguson

You are entirely correct about the GOP and religious right rejecting facts and science in lieu of ideological blind faith in alignment with group self interest and the ignorance of the electorate. The problem is that the US needs the GOP to once again become a party of ideas and principles to challenge the Democrats. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that they are willing to rise to the occasion.

After leaving IBM and their corporate plan, I setup a private-pay account for my Blackberry at Bell Canada from July 5th to July 8th. Then I "ported-out" my number to Rogers on July 8th. Now BC wants me to pay for the entire month of July (some $367) claiming that I did not provide them 30 days notice for the port-out. The fact that they never notified me of any such waiting period doesn't seem to bother them. I told them I would see them in court.
