n light of the current economic collapse and multi-trillion dollar bailouts of financial institutions I found this depiction of what one trillion dollars ($1,000,000,000) actually looks like. (Click on the images to enlarge.)

For me it helps to picture all of the residential real estate east of the Mississippi, all the houses, apartments, in every city, from New England through the Southeast, New York City, Boston, Atlanta, all the cities, all the states, and the land. That's about ten trillion dollars.
